The Ashtabula County One Life Race was held on September 6th. The Ashtabula County Suicide Prevention Coalition, in partnership with Stasny Road Racing, held a community walk and race to raise awareness about suicide prevention. The event brought together residents, families, and advocates from across the county to honor loved ones lost to suicide, support survivors, and spread a message of hope and healing.
Former Ohio State Representative John Patterson gave opening remarks to begin the event, highlighting the importance of community, compassion, and continued efforts to prevent suicide. Bridget Sherman from Ashtabula County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board stated, “Events like this help break down stigma, open up conversations about mental health, and remind people that no one has to face struggles alone.”
The Coalition extends special thanks to the sponsors and community partners who helped make the event possible, as well as Stasny Road Racing for their partnership in organizing the race.
The Ashtabula County Suicide Prevention Coalition remains committed to its mission of promoting awareness, reducing stigma, and connecting individuals with life-saving resources. By working together, the Coalition believes the community can create a culture of hope and support where lives are saved and healing can begin.
