Hope In Artistry Show-On November 21st a reception was held for the Hope in Artistry event at the Ashtabula Arts Center. The event is held yearly in November and this year marked the 8th year. The art show featured local artists who have been moved to express their experiences with suicide and mental health through their artwork. This exhibit aims to showcase artwork that conveys the hope of recovery through the struggles of mental illness, suicidal ideation, and the pain of losing someone to suicide. In 2023, Ashtabula County tragically lost 29 lives to suicide. The path for those grappling with hopelessness is often challenging, affecting not only the individuals themselves but also their friends and loved ones who share in their journey. For many, artistic expression has become a powerful tool for healing and a vital part of their recovery process. Through this event and many others, the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board is dedicated to reducing stigma, raising awareness about suicide prevention, and honoring survivors of suicide loss.
