Meet the MHRS Team! Bridget Sherman has been employed with the Ashtabula County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board since January of 2015. Ms. Sherman is a graduate of Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. Ms. Sherman earned her Master of Arts Degree in Forensic Psychology from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice (City Universities of New York). Before her employment with the Board, Ms. Sherman was employed with the Ashtabula County Children Services Board for nearly 15 years.

When asked about what she feels is her biggest accomplishment so far while working at the board, Bridget stated, “I think our biggest accomplishment has been how much we have increased our outreach and community education opportunities. Events like the P.A.R.T. Conference and the One Life Race have become consistent opportunities for us to get to know our community better. Coordinating the One Life Race/Walk for Suicide Prevention has been really rewarding, and the race has really grown in the last few years. I’m excited to see how many more people we can reach next year! I’m really proud of how many Ashtabula County residents we have trained in QPR and Mental Health First Aid. This year, we were able to add the WISE program for older adults, and the response and feedback from the participants have been wonderful.”

For the future, Bridget hopes that the MHRS Board can continue to make connections in our community, raise awareness, and change the climate of stigma around behavioral health. “I hope we can not only normalize help-seeking when it is needed but also help increase the number of Ashtabula County residents who can confidently provide support when a friend or loved one might be in need.”

Ms. Sherman is a certified instructor of the Mental Health First Aid Adult Curriculum, and QPR, a suicide prevention gatekeeper training.

Born and raised in Ashtabula, she spends much of her spare time performing with local music groups and ensembles.

We are proud to have Bridget on the MHRS team.

Her expertise and experience strengthen our efforts and help to make a lasting impact in the community.
