The Ohio State Highway Patrol recently hosted an Open House for its New Beginnings Program in Columbus, bringing together partners from across the state to highlight efforts that connect individuals to recovery supports. Ashtabula County MHRS Board staff, Kaitie Hart and Christy Fisher attended the event. The program focuses on providing second chances, building recovery pathways, and strengthening collaboration between law enforcement and behavioral health services.
Since June 2025, the Ashtabula County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board has proudly been part of the New Beginnings Program. Locally, the Board utilizes its Quick Response Team (QRT) to connect with individuals who have recently been charged with an OVI. Through phone calls or home visits, the QRT provides resources, encouragement, and treatment options to help individuals begin their recovery journey.
By partnering with the Highway Patrol through New Beginnings, the Board is expanding its ability to reach people at a critical moment offering hope, reducing barriers, and creating opportunities for long-term recovery.
