Prevention Spotlight – Lake Area Recovery Center (LARC) in Ashtabula is a comprehensive behavioral health organization committed to providing compassionate, client-centered care for individuals and families impacted by substance use and mental health disorders.
They offer a full range of services, including residential treatment for men, women, and mothers with children, as well as outpatient and intensive outpatient programs (IOP). Their programs also include medication-assisted treatment (MAT), mental health day treatment, and mental health individual counseling. In addition, they provide case management, peer support, prevention (AWARE program) and services for court-involved individuals through partnerships with our local specialty courts. LARC also offers recovery housing and recovery support services. Their mission is to empower individuals to achieve long-term recovery through personalized care, resources, and support in a safe and welcoming environment.
Vanessa Jackson, Deputy Executive Director, expressed why she likes being a part of the prevention coalition by stating;
“I enjoy being a part of the prevention coalition in my community because it allows me to contribute to meaningful change at the grassroots level. It’s rewarding to collaborate with others who are just as passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles, reducing substance use, and supporting youth and families. Being involved gives me a sense of purpose, knowing that the work we do whether it’s organizing events, educating the public, or advocating for resources, can truly make a difference in someone’s life. I also value the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, learn from different perspectives, and be part of a proactive movement that is focused on building a stronger, healthier community for everyone.”
